How to use FLEXI RODS

Thanks to a previous reader's request, I am going to show you how to achieve the curly look using Flexi rods in detail!!!!! Yey!

The model below has 3c/4a kinky curly hair. Flexirods work on any hair type. Just make sure you use product on the hair as it helps give the curls shape, shine and hold. You can make small parts or bigger parts in the hair (the smaller the part the more curls you will have).

Okay, so here it goes: After applying setting lotion or Curl Enhancing cream such as CoCo Curly Butter to your soaking wet hair, follow these steps....

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

Step 4

FINALE!!

Thank you so much for posting this information. I bought some flexi rods this weekend, but got discouraged b/c my hair is a 4 and I have soooooo much. It looks like you didn't make small parts in the head like you would if you were doing a roller set on relaxed hair. Am I correct? Will this work on thick, kinky, coiled, course hair?

You're quite welcome. The model in the photo has 3c/4a hair and it worked just fine as you can see. I need to update this post with information about her hair. The parts are totally up to you. I chose bigger parts because I'm lazy, but it still worked. If you want more curls, just do smaller parts. Hope this helped, now I'm off to updating this post with the same info! :)

I love this site, but could you feature more type 4b individuals doing this hair? or at least feature products that work for this type of hair? Thanks.

Absolutely! Its in the works. I actually have 3c/4a curls and most of the products I feature (mostly my own products) work on ALL hair types. But I will definitely be on the hunt for 4a hairstyles. *checks You tube for sources*.

I really appreciate these instructions and visuals. I often braid my hair after I wash it and I have to undo it the next morning. I wanted to try something that could be a little easier and I'm hoping this is the trick.

Hi Maria. Thanks for your question. The size of the curl depends on the size of the rod. The smaller the rod, the smaller your curls will be. I used the red color rods, but there are even smaller ones such as the yellow and green flexi-rods. Let me know how it works out.

YOUR HAIR IS NATURAL AND IT IS NOT STRAIGHT AT ALL....I USUALLY PRESS HAIR ALL THE TIME BUT I WANT A NATURAL STYLE THIS WEEK AND I WANT THIS LOOK BUT THE MODELS HAIR IS BASICALLY ALREADY STRAIGHT

I attempted to do this style today but it did not turn out right. I'm not sure what I did wrong.

Did you wash your model's hair before you styled it or did you just wet it?

Could you maybe post a more detailed tutorial or a youtube video on how to do this style?

I tried to put flexi rods in my 3c/4a hair. I don't know what I did wrong but it didn't work all that well. I did exactly what I have found on youtube and other sites but my problem was my roots. They were so puffy and thick that it didn't look right with the curls. How do I remedy this problem? Any suggestions Anyone.
