What does your man think about your hair?

So, the other day I had an epiphany! I was somewhat stressing about what I'm going to do with my hair for my upcoming wedding. Since its in Jamaica, I immediately started thinking of protective styles, such as a natural weave (i.e. weave using naturally curly/kinky texture). Since I big chopped again, my hair is not the length I desired it to be for my wedding and I wanted to enhance the length by adding a natural looking weave. While I was asking my soon-to-be-husband what I should do with my hair (in a somewhat frantic voice), he says "Wear it just like that". I said, "Like what?" He says, "The Twistout, it looks nice just like that. I don't want to see any weaves or any extensions, I want you to wear it just like that!" Relieved, but yet somewhat puzzled, I say "Well, what about when I go swimming, I don't wanna have to deal with my hair on the trip." He goes, "You make your own products, slap on some of that curly stuff you make and rock your naturally curly look or just twist your hair back up for the rest of the trip." (Yes he knows the meaning of a "twistout").

I absolutely love my natural hair, but always feel like it needs super protection when I am going somewhere that includes water activities, but water isn't cryptonite for natural hair! As a matter of fact, water is your natural hair's BFF! I had to realize that I don't need to enhance my hair for a glam look for my wedding, my hair at its current length and state is good enough. I knew this already, I guess I just needed a reminder.

What a relief to know that my man truly LOVES my natural hair!

What are your thoughts? What are your man's feelings about your natural hair?

My man LOVES my natural hair. In fact, he wanted me to go natural before I did. He has nothing but compliments for my hair, from the very first day. I don't know what I'd do without him because he's my biggest cheerleader and best friend.

My bf loves my hair. which is really good. He buys me hair products, pay for me to go to the hair stylist etc, so it's good to have that support and have a man that loves your natural hair.

I LOVE IT. I have no man to speak of right now, but never let it be said that the brothas don't like the coil. They love it! :o)

I dont think men care as much as women do about hair. Well at least my Husband does not!

My boyfriend lives it. He has locs, and he loves my afro pops, twists, or just when I wear it combed out. We kinda latch, me and him.

I think you mentioned that you were getting married in Jamaica and please don't fret if you need to wash you hair down there. I went there back in Oct 2008 and co-wash my hair down there and my hair was SUPA soft down there. Somebody told me their water is "softer" in Jamaica. So don't worry about how you should wear your hair. Just wear it they you do here.

Oh yeah, the hubbs loves my natural hair especially when I wear two-strand twist!!!

It is always so good when others appreciate our natural beauty, hair included. :-) I love that your man loves your hair! Mine loves mine, too, and I think it's so cute when he plays in it or tells me he likes certain styles I do. A few years ago, you couldn't tell me that men loved natural hair, I thought they all wanted perms or weaves - that long, straight look. I was mistaken! I learned differently when I went natural myself.

I really envy your comments here. My fiance HATES my hair. He absolutely lost his mind when I did the BC and he still gets upset when he see's it sometimes. I have never been so happy with my hair in my life and I wish he would get on board. Anyway, its too bad he doesnt have a choice in the matter...lol. He loves me and he'll just have to adjust. I did my first hot comb after 6 months of being all natural and he was just ecstatic. Only to be terribly disappointed when i washed it out a week later. What can i say? I missed my curls. :)

i'm single, but i'm CONSTANTLY getting compliments on my hair. I work in customer service so i'm interacting with hundreds of people everyday, and i get comments from everyone, white men, black men, white women, black women. Many of the guys i've dated love it as well, they love messing with it!! lol

My husband loves my natural hair. But I want to cut it because a small patch in the front of my hair has gone straight, and he's not for me cutting my hair. I've been natural since 2002 and my natural hair stretches to my bra strap, so I can see why he's apprehensive about it. But as it is now he loves it.

When I initially when natural I was single. I was a little bit nervous because before I did the BC I had shoulder-length hair. It was really "healthy" (yeah, for perm hair lol)and thick. I didn't think a man would be attractive to me since I cut it off (immature thinking) But approximately 2 weeks after I did the BC a guy approached me and we dated for a year (it didn't work out- but that's another post. He never saw me with my relaxed hair but he loved my twa.
My new man, I've been with for the past 6 months loves my hair. He plays in, massages my scalp etc. He loves bragging about my hair with his friends and family (which is corny). He met me a year after I went natural so I have a lot more length now than when I was dating the first guy. I'm sorry but I am doing a lot of rambling.
I get all kinds of compliments for men, everywhere I go about my hair.

Ever since I went natural I became a guy magnet. Wither short or tall, young or old. They couldn't resist. Never was the case when I had my hair relax or as we like to say "fried, died or laid to the side" I never even got a compliment with permed hair compare to the thousands of compliment I got when rocking my natural hair. Then when I finally met my man he join the magnet squad which was fine with me. He absolutely loved & enjoyed it. He washes it and massage it with hot oil, play in it etc...and as for me I'm just so happy to be nappy 4 real...Give Thanks!

Well my man has no choice but to accept my hair as is (lol). I am texlaxed but he's seen my hair revert back to somewhat of a natural state after I sweat out a perm, and he still acts the same as if I had a fresh perm. He knows that the hair is part of the package. But I always try to make it look nice for me first, and then him. lmao

Its great to hear that women with natural hair that are in a relationship have supporting partners, that love their hairs.

I can't help but think of this as a fairytale, where this time the princess is styling natural curl, and being completely the way that God created her.

My SO is just so pleased that I'm finally wearing my own natural hair. I notice I don't get so much attention from the opposite sex... but how I feel about myself is the key... Additionally exercise is no longer a scary proposition!!! I love going to my bikram yoga class and sweating bullets without worrying! Very empowering.

Men do care I did the big chop six months ago and loved it. My hair was healthy. A few weeks ago my husband told me he hated it and told me to perm it. Well after a few days it got to me and of course I wanted my husband to like the way I looked, so I relaxed it. I hate it my hair is no longer healthy and shiny.
